# Ask who actually makes and sends it.

Get the pharmacy's full name before payment. Keep it separate from the name of the service arranging the visit.

 At the visit

Ask for the answer in plain words. Keep what is still unclear on your list.

## Start with the Massachusetts record

As of September 30, 2026, Massachusetts offers a free health-licence lookup for pharmacies and pharmacists.

A pharmacy based outside Massachusetts needs the state's non-resident licence to supply medicine here, as of September 30, 2026.

Ask for the licence details that match the place making or supplying the medicine.

The Massachusetts permission for a pharmacy based in another state to supply people here, as of September 30, 2026.

## An injection made to order adds a check

Compounding means a medicine is made to order. Sterile means free from living germs.

As of September 30, 2026, Massachusetts requires special state permission to make and supply sterile medicines made to order.

For a pharmacy in another state, look for a Massachusetts nonresident sterile compounding licence.

An outsourcing facility is a business making sterile medicines in batches with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registration.

For an outsourcing facility in another state, look for a Massachusetts nonresident outsourcing facility registration. Here, registration means state permission for that business to send these medicines into Massachusetts.

For a pharmacy in Massachusetts, ask the state pharmacy board to confirm its licence covers sterile compounding.

For a pharmacy or outsourcing facility in another state, an ordinary Massachusetts non-resident pharmacy licence alone is not enough, as of September 30, 2026.

What that care term means Compounder

The pharmacy, doctor or other business that makes the medicine to order.

## Registration is not product approval

FDA keeps a list of registered outsourcing facilities, which make medicines to order in batches.

An FDA registration gives neither a facility nor its drug FDA approval, as of September 26, 2026.

Check the Massachusetts permission named above as well as any FDA registration. A badge on the sales page does not answer those questions.

## Get the handover details in writing

Ask what will be on the label, who can answer pharmacy questions and what to do if the parcel is damaged or delayed.

Request the storage directions for that exact product. Ask who handles a replacement, a return or a medicine problem.

- The pharmacy name is clear.
- The licence record matches that name.
- I can reach a pharmacist with a question.
